GRANTS

VOLUNTEERS... I am interested in hearing from schools who track their volunteer efforts through reported volunteer hours. We have started this last year and am looking for others who do this.

We have as part of our entrance to this Charter School, manditory volunteer hours. As usual, some do and some don't, but we track and report back to the parents in the form of "Report Cards"

Thanks for any input.

I'd really love to do it but unfortunately, there's no Lowe's near me here in Wisconsin.
Read more about it here:

By the way, having a Lowe's right near your school is *not* a requirement. It's a consideration but by no means a requirement. If you've got a key project, I'd encourage you to apply. Lowe's is a great supporter of the work of parent groups all over the country.

Good luck,

Lowes IS expanding into Wisconsin. There is one being built in Milwaukee and there is one currently operating in the northern area of Milwaukee, too.

www.boxtopsforeducation is offering an expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to a "kids cacaus (sp?)." It asks kids to write an essay about what they would do if they were a guardian or principal for a day to improve parental involvement. I just quickly read over an email about it, the site will give you better information. Parent involvement is so important in any kind of school but I figure your school really thrives on it.

If there are any large corporation with offices or facilities in your community, you should check with them. Sometimes they do things through their local sites and sometimes they have corporate community giving initiatives. You can always check out their websites too under community investment or some similar category. Don't forget Walmart either. If you have one in your community, they offer matching grants and some other grant programs.
