Carnival/Silent auctions

Woops, sorry about that. At our auctions we use an auctioner, that way they are in control of how the price goes up between each bid. This really works well, and since we have started doing it this way we have earned more on our auctions. You know some of those auctioners can be really agressive.

JMES:

We sold our tickets for $1 each. Tickets were only sold for "Pick of the Basket" at the carnival. The winner did have to be present at that part of the event in order to make his or her choice of basket before the auction started.

We had a separate raffle of 3 other items for which we sold tickets in advance and the winners did not need to be present at the drawing. I think we did a $500 Wal-Mart gift certificate, half a hog with processing (2 winners from a whole hog), and $500 of local merchant gift checks. The local gift checks are pretty neat, because the winner could use the amount for any goods or service as long as it was purchased at a local merchant. We live in a very small town. This is very popular because you could use it to buy anything from gasoline to furniture to car insurance!

Thank you to all that gave me input on this silent auction/raffle which we did both. and the raffle did well.

The auction took off kinda of slow but then picked up we made a good amount of money, but im sure it will grow with years to come of this annual carnival. needless to say the kids couldnt get enough of it. we had a great time and the pressure is finally off....
