Who are your PTO members?

I'm shocked at such a system. How can an organization survive with those attitudes? Our PTO includes everyone. All postions for board openings are sent out to all parents. We do not charge dues either. We consider all parents, grandparents, teachers, and staff, members of the PTO.We want people to be a part of the PTO.

I think all of us who have read your post agree that this is a bizzare way to run a PTO at a public school.
The best way to effect change is from the inside, so you are on the right track.
You go girl! (Sorry for the cliche but seemed appropriate).

Please keep us posted once are you admitted to this secret society. I would be curious to know if and how you are able to make changes to this PTO.

WOW!! Sending you lots of good luck vibes to change this procedure. like everyone else here this is so strange and never heard of before--at least here. All of our meetings are open to anyone who wants to attend--we never have many people there and would love more but i mean we do with what we have. Good luck and keep us posted

Wow... I'm pretty appalled that at a public school this is endorsed by the administration. I hope you are able to change the procedures. While I understand wanting to make sure you have dedicated or reliable PTO members, this is taking it much too far.

This is a public school and I called the principal and she seems open to improving things

Yes, teachers are allowed to be members but not other parents outside this group of 15 parents. Again, this is not the board of the PTO. IT is the whole PTO.
