Very good comments from all. The only thing I have to add, is require "two" for all money situations, deposits, collections, checks, monthly bank reconciliation, etc....

I totally agree with everyone else on this issue. I have a very strong opinion of this since we went through this all of last year and the beginning of this one. She has to go! Allow her to volunteer in some other capacity. As far as finding a new treasurer, look at the teachers. Both our President and Treasurer work there and they are the signatures. It works out great when a check is needed.

Good luck and keep us up to date.

I now sure what your By-Laws state regarding this issuse but I do feel she should be removed, a full aduit be conducted and policies be put in place to protect the PTO from it happening again. Here in Texas, if the State Controllers office found out or the IRS, the school would loose it's Non-Profit Certification and there would be no PTO.

Best wishes!

And I must add that Critter's forms are awesome - I plagiarize them daily! Thanks, Critter.

I agree with Critter 100%. Just think that if CEO, Acct. Mgrs. did this would they keep their office. I don't think that any organization would tolerate this type of behavior. Grant it this person probably doesn't understand the importance of their role. Feelings may get hurt but we must seperate friendship from business matters.
