Good advice! I would also add that whenever you speak to the VP, always do so in a group setting or at least with one other person so she can't twist your words around later.

I don't see why you are resigning. You need to review your bylaws to see if there's a removal process. Ours is a new PTO & we were sure to put in stipulation that if Board is unsatisfied with any other boards job performance then they can be voted out thru majority.

Why are you resigning? If the board and group at large is not happy with her performance - why isn't she removed from office? As I see it, she is the problem not you.

From very recent experience- I just realized I was also being "bullied" by a couple of staff members unhappy with my way of doing things and wanted me to stop doing them. It took a really eye opening discussion from a trusted staff friend to make me see how I was being bullied - and in turn made me MORE determined to keep doing my job my way.

Talk to your board and present a united front. If they are in agreement and your bylaws permit it - remove her from position. If need be and your principal is "in your corner", have her/him attend the meeting/s to help control the process.

I am the new president of our schools organization. There have been financial challenges in the past with the previous board, including several thousand dollars in "missing" money. This summer the new board was summoned by school officials to discuss the serious problems, and new ground rules for spending and accountability. Not only did :mad: I embrace the changes, but I promised the school I would do my absolute best to turn things around. Our school year started out fantastic and I've had many many people seek me out to say what a great job we are doing this year. Financially we are in terrific shape. We have had huge family turn outs for events. Our volunteer participation is the highest its been in 10 years.

The problem? The Vice President is constantly and consistantly questioning team decisions and literally bullying me and the other attendees of the meetings. At every meeting I have had to stop her from taking over. Our meetings become long and drawn out with people just wanting to vote and get the heck out of there. I have tried to implement Roberts Rules, but she absolutely will not respect the board or proceedure. I have been quietly approached by others that it is obvious there is a problem and people are uncomfortable at meetings.

She wanted to be president this year, but our bylaws did not allow it. The problem started in the summer when she tried to "fill me in" on the way the board works....that everything just had to come through her, that no one else really mattered on the board. The treasurer just wrote checks and the secretary just took notes. That wasn't sitting well with me and I was just ignoring her but another board member overheard her and called her on it. She refuses my specific requests for important financial information and has told another board member that she has absoutely no intention of telling me anything. Now, she has parents come to meetings specifically to disrupt and I am exhausted and at the end of my rope.

I've talked to school officials about the issue. That I am worried that our group will suffer. I finally let officials know that if it continues I will have to resign. They're panicking at that thought, but noone really knows how to handle the situation. No one wants me to quit and "let her win" but how much can I take before I end up hating the school?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm drafting my resignation letter and I'm feeling like a total failure.
