Title 1 money

Before my computer crashed I had a document saved that was either from Title I or the NCLB Act. I am sure it was connected to Title I somehow. It stipulates how Title I and parental involvement. A good google (or dogpile) would probably lead you to that.

Shawn, we do not have a YMCA or anything like that but I don't see why school funds should be spent on that. Our ESS funds (what little there is now) covers the before and after day care, intersessions, and summer camps. There are charges for these events but it circulates through the ESS funds. That is the way I understand it anyhow.

This year's summer camp the "teachers" were paid a flat rate. It did not matter if they had a GED or a rank in education. We have our dear ol' gov. to thank for that! In same cases in the past Title I has stepped in to help out but during our August meeting our EIS (also our Title I coorid) did not know if she would even have the funds to do the refreshments and door prizes like they always do.

Shawn there is also title one money that is used to increase family involvement, that could be family nights, educational workshops for families, resources for the parent room, etc. I was actually sent to a conference in Baltimore on school involvement as part of this

Rangervp, that is great about your grant! The only involvement that Title I has much with our PTO is our first meeting. They provide door prizes and refreshments if they make it fit their budget and explain how the Title I benefits our schools. They also take parents for the Parent Advisory Committee. This committee meets once a year to make a contract more or less for teachers, students, and parents to promise to try their best.

Our Title I also pays for aides and they have a few certified positions. The district Parent Liasion(I can never spell that) comes from Title I money. It is my understanding that the sub aide pay comes from the Title I grant too. We are about the only district around that does that around here.
