Angela , thanks so much for your encouragement! The reason I ‘m not sure that the board will go for it is that only about 1/3 of our 600+ student population has computer access. Even though our county library has free access. They also are slow to change. Great principal, but some do not want change. “why fix what isn’t broken.” I’m hoping to fix that issue.

Whis me luck tomorrow!

Jrny2001,
I was wondering how your website is going? Wondering if we have been able to help you in anyway.

Everyone Else,
Thank you for all the help you have helped me soooo much. I am not a very handy Computer mom but boy i have learned ALOT. Thank you Thank you.
I will have it all completed and finished I hope by sometime this week. LOL
We are getting ready for school to start so I am making up PTO Letters with all info on it. I am also putting website address on them. So I hope that all parents will take advantage of using the website more.

Keep updates on here please so I can know how everyone's site is doing. THank you

Help...I'm surfing, cutting, pasting and HTML-ing and I CAN"T STOP!!!!! :D I now even have my kid involved in making the decisions on graphics and stuff because I need to spend some "quality" time with her. hehehehe!

Another question for you Melissa.... how did you get to be the lucky one to make the web site? I see your not listed as an officer. Will you be doing a newsletter as well?

Angela,
I voluntarily stepped down from my Vice-President position of last year because we had new faces that wanted to hold an office and I wanted to try to erase the "clique" stereotype. The president was a little uncomfortable with my decision because she is in ill health and relied heavily upon me last year. I told her not to worry...I may not be holding a title, but I wasn't going anywhere. :D

My only concern is making our PTO the very best that it can be and doing what is right for the kids and staff. I LOVE being in the PTO, and take on many projects voluntarily. Actually, I have one of those compulsive, anal personalities and I can't ever shut my mind down. Since finding this site, I am constantly writing down things to bring up at the next meeting or shooting off tons of "what do you think about this" emails.

We have so many pieces of paper that flow through the backpack express that I think parents tend to ignore most of what comes home. One thing we discussed at our last meeting was having a "PTO color" for all of our paper correspondence and hopefully parents will look at those sheets. I doubt it though. :( We really want to communicate better with parents and staff. If we have information both on the web and on paper, surely they will be able to find out the scoop. Ya know!?

I don't know about doing a newsletter, but with the website email system, we can easily let the membership know when the site has been updated.

OK, you guys have gotten me in trouble! LOL I'm addicted to setting up our PTO's webpage. I never knew that it would be so easy! Now all I have to do is convince our board that it's a good idea. I have a meeting tomorrow with the board and the principal, so I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row so to speak.

After seeing other pages, ours have a way to go, but I'm working on it and getting some wonderful ideas from all of you.

thanks again!
