My reign is over

Well I can say it didnt take them long- now they dont understand why I left. They really need me. How will they get things done? I finally learned a new word -NO.(still cant use it fully but I'm trying LOL) I told them that I could not continue to be stressed over every little crossed T and that as much as I hate it, I can not lead an organization whose members constantly criticize yet do nothing to help. I will help with the new Officers and I will do what I can for the carnival and teachers luncheon but I no longer want to be completely responsible for all of it.
Its funny - they say when one door closes another opens. Today I had a Booster meeting for my sons Show Choir and while I knew they wanted me to help they did one even better.(?) They were all so excited when I said I'd help in any way, before I knew it I was put on the slate for elections as President. It is a little intimidating- the budget is huge, and if I mess up it will effect not only the spirits of all us but the competition for the kids. The current President promised she wouldnt change her phone # (LOL) so I'm willing to give it my best.
I do think that my daughters last 2 years in Elem. will be better for all of us as I can finally sit back and enjoy whats going on instead of having to worry so much. With the Show Choir there is a lot of support all the way around. I'm going to be just find. Thanks so much to all of you!!

It's tough to give your all and have people shoot you down at every turn. Obviously this has been a very stressful time since it seems to have even affected your family(their relief at your resignation). There are so many ways to be involved without being leader and you may have a whole lot more fun(I found that out personally this year). Sounds like there were plenty of people who supported you and some who were even waiting to get you involved in their events! Thank those people for supporting you and just concentrate of being involved in a way that is fun for you and your family.

I assume the people who criticized you will be taking over the reigns? Let them have their time. They may find how much you did and that it's not so easy after all. You may find them asking you back too!! I love when that happens!!!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

I am sure you did what you felt was best for yourself in this situation. Hold your head high and don't let anyone make you feel guilty or bad about your decision.

I am sorry it came to this end for you. But sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Good Luck!

I submitted my resignation today. The Principal cried which made me feel good (because I wondered if she would care at all). One of these wonderful parents who have complained that I am a dictator is very upset that I would be a coward and not, get this- hang in there so I could do the Spring Carnival in May!! Nice to know I'm wanted for something I guess. LOL She is trying to make me feel guilty - she thought I felt passionately about my job and cant believe she misjudged me. Oh Please woman!! Last week you were complaining that I sent you an email with PTO info and the next day that I didnt. I have found that no matter what I do they will find something to complain about. I know they will say a lot of things to make me look bad - the way I see it let them do it. The books and success will show that they are full of hot air. I cant beleive they expect to take all their crap AND make sure everything turns out great. Whatever. I have offered to help with the carnival and if they really want it to be a success they will call me but I refuse to be their doormat. My family seems releived and I have already been contacted to help on the High Schools Show Choir so I wont be completely lost. (I have had calls from other parents wanting me to stay and wanting to fight it out but I am almost to thepoint that I know no matter what I do it will not be enough or right)

Now I guess I need to get a new user name for this board!? Thanks for lisetening!
