President who never shows

I hate complaining but it is nice to have someone to listen. :D That and my husband is about to go after her himself if this doesn't end soon.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

The Pepsi is cold and the popcorn is fresh!

There is a thing in the Roberts Rules of Order (parlementry procedure) about derliction of duties ( I know I botched that spelling SORRY) but it covers stuff like this and if your by-laws refer to this well, use it!

Not only is she under your skin but putting you in a shitti ;) :D spot. You know, as far as voting goes, I often say NO. We pass so many things that should be talked about more, some have finally caught on and ask why I vote NO. Things pass and some don't but how pompus do you have to be?

In our sample bylaws in this state, (which a majority of it is used by the units- they can change it around to fit their needs) it says that "the executive board has the right to remove any member of the executive board in the event of three (3) or more unexcused absences from it's meetings"
So if they miss three or more PTA meetings, they can be removed.

And yes, come by Page Two- We don't bite!

Sometimes you just get so upset that the easy stuff is not within your reach. I think you have it. We always tell the kids to tell us when they are being bullied but who can we tell? I just hate that I'm having an amazing year as is the rest of the school, even the principal is getting along with people and she is making me nuts. AAHHHH!

This may sound harsh but since she isn't coming to the meetings maybe your board can add a section to the by-laws covering this type of situation. If she gets wind of it and asks, I would just tell her that the current situation has brought to light a weakness in your by-laws and the board wants to correct it so there won't be problems in the future. After you follow procedure for making changes and getting them membership approved, you can then start using your new addition. You told her it was for any future problems and the future starts tomorrow!

As for handing over the keys and such, I would tell her that you were elected as Treasurer and you intend to continue to serve in that capacity following all by-laws and properly voted and approved requests of the general membership.

Lastly, you need to go to the Free for All Section and enter Page Two.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Tact is not something this woman understands. She got this position by bullying people around and she is trying to do that to the rest of us now. I feel for her that she works, but she is refusing to consider a lesser position. Had she been at the meeting her vote would have been the only one against the item that passed. Maybe this makes her feel helpless but it is no reason for her to tell me I'm not doing my job as Treasurer, like I'm not going to give someone the money that the board approved or something. Now she is wanting me to give her the checkbook and the only key to the safe and cabinet that we have. If she can't get to school for her own duties, what makes me think she will go with me once a week to write checks and handle whatever else is needed. I'm really frustrated by this and the funny thing is this is the first in four years where there have not been any complaints about the PTO and she is complaining about it. I think every board member would be happy to vote her out but they want to go by the book and ours doesn't tell us how!
