Our Jog-a-thon brought in a little over $6,500 this year, all pledges are deposited into the PTO account. We spend about $500 to conduct the event, and that includes prizes -- $200 for the classroom that brings in the most pledges, $100 for the second place classroom, a pizza party for the third place classroom and an ice cream party for 4th place. The remainder of the budget is spent on supplies--balloons for decorations, water for the kids as they jog, copy paper for flyers, etc.

Well we can only have one fundraiser for the whole year, which makes it hard enough as it is, but our main focus is the $10,000 we need to raise to get our playground up to code. We have K-4th grade students. We have very poor parent participation / volunteers. It is always the same people that pitch in every year. Typically we do either a Fall Festival / Silent Auction or cookie dough / savers cards and all we net with our 450 student enrollment is about $4,000. Keeping that in mind I was curious about the readathon, walkathon, jogathon type programs or something similar.

Have you seen the fundraiser the Los Angeles Shriner
Hospital is doing,
www.perfectpartybycody.com/shriners
Or the one created for The Olivia Lynn Pynn Chiropractic Scholarship Fund
www.perfectpartybycody.com/lulu
This is the first ever to connect your cause to
two of the most important events a mother has for her child. The child's birthday and teaching properliteracy, character, safety, health, sportsmanshipand social schools. With the household names in all the above it does this and more and you profits never end. No other fundraiser has ever been created that benefits so many children and families.

Nothing to add but to slap PTOhank's wrists for his entry above.
We all understood dlf's post and your sarcastic response was unneccesary. As you are 'getting started' you should know that we all hold hands and play nice on this message board, even when we disagree.

WE do one major fundraiser and it is 100% profit!
A walk a thon around our school. During school time with the gym teacher. She is wonderful and helps with this every year. PTO puts out lemonade and the kids bring in water bottles and wear school colors. I have info. Just email me.
