Christmas babysitting as a fundraiser?

We were going to do this in December, but found out we would have to purchase special liability insurance. The other problem that we had thought of is that if you have a child from a broken home and mom drops them off and dad sneeks in and says that hes there to pick up the child...now you are responsible for sending the child home with the wrong parent. Too much hassle to raise a few dollars ;)

Well, definately get a cell phone number, maybe an emergency number for someone to get the kid if the parent gets delayed or whatever, and charge extra for overtime--someone has to come get the kid eventually.

Find out about the liability on doing something like this first. I would also worry about parents not picking them up for hours after they are suppose to. Would I do it? I am not sure, I would have to think about it!

While I do not know anyone who has done this type of thing as a fundraiser, it is practical and I would imagine you would get folks who will jump at it.

I would absolutely set certain hours. Depending on how long kids would be there snacks would be a good idea and should be factored into your cost.I would send home a flyer and get the folks to sign up for it. You could always take kids at the door too, but you would need some type of sign up to see what kind of a response you get. Good Luck and if you do it, let us know how it works out.

Has anyone here ever done babysitting during the holidays as a fundraiser? Do you set certain hours? Also, how much do you charge? Do you serve the children snacks? I thought we could do it on a couple of Saturdays before Christmas and let the kids play games and watch movies. Am I setting myself up for a disaster? Thanks for any help!!!
