Candlemommy I did try to email you , but it came back, said email error address unknown. I would like information on the type of film and projector and where they can be obtained. Plus any other fun ideas you might have.
Thanks

Hi, We had thought about having movie nights before, but the principle explained that we had to get the permission from each company. Thank you for the site skoolmom. I went to it and called them. They were very nice. They are sending me a packet with all of the details, no obligation type thing, and will do a follow up with me after our Sept. board meeting to see if we're interested. The cost for our school with approx 540 students would be $375.00 for the year. They will allow us to charge an admission fee for the first year to help cover the cost of the license, after that they said we could charge for the refreshments. I'm thinking of maybe holding a raffle to obtain the license/refreshment cost and then the movie nights could be free.
I don't mean to sound dumb but how do you handle the daddy/daughter and a mom/son type of night. What do you do if there is no parent of that gender. Do the same gender parent or relative bring the children or are those kids just left out. We have several from divorce families where one parent isn't even allowed into the school. We had a sock hop last year and had to be very careful about checking drivers license against the names listed that were allowed to pick the child up. It was a disaster, of course mom or dad sent someone that wasn't listed, I was even "fussed" out by the then PTO President for enforcing the show of ID. With so many children being abducted you would think parents, when asked, would list everyone that is allowed to get their precious child and show their ID with a smile and a thank you!

Also under New PTOtoday.web site listing JHB listed a spell check site, www.iespell.com/ site. I installed it and it's great for this forum and any other place that doesn't offer a spell check. I love it. I don't feel so stupid with all my little mistakes, Thanks JHB

I would like to know where do you get the movies? Like Monster Inc.? We are very rural and do not even have a movie theater in our county. This would probably go over big. I have no idea where to start thought. Thanks for any help.

We are thinking of doing a few movie nights this yaer. The only thing holding us up is what to show hem on (inside or out) How big of a screenwas used a nd where did you get it from. Any help would be GREAT. We are not doing as a fundraiser but will charge a small admission to cover the cost of the movie.

I am co-president of our school's PTA and we host movie night every month with the exception of Decomber. We do not charge for the movie but we do charge $0.50 each for the baked goods and drinks. It has been the kids & their parents look forward to movie night because we try to show movies that have just been realesed. The kids are allowed to bring their sleeping bags and pillow to school on movie night. Movie night is not used as a fundraiser but as a family night or a night to let parent get a few extra things done.

We had no trouble with our board or parents allowing a "kids night out" The parents could drop off their kids at 6:30(movie starts at 7:00)
There is a whole lot of details (security, Intermission, ages of students, movie ratingsG & PG with parent permission) Parents come back at 9:00 sharp. There is a permission form that goes home for any who what to prepay. This is "billed" as a service/fun night out for the kids. we have had NO complants from parents or the school.
