Frustrated with Campbell's

First thing. No, I don't work for Campbells.

FYI: Campbells is sponsoring at least two sweepstakes that are worth entering.

One is co-sponosred by Winn Dixie and can be entered at www.winn-dixie.com They are giving away 1,000,000 labels as a grand prize and 25 first prizes of 10,000 labels. You enter on-line daily through April 30th. This is available only in 11 states (AL, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, OH, SC, TN and VA). You could get many items with 1,000,000 labels.

Also, if you read the rules concerning the sweepstakes that features Sarah Hughes, you will realize that the prizes are "huge". I have been entering sweepstakes for over 20 years and this schedule of prizes is rare.

The best part is the 2nd change drawing: I had read a long time ago that only a small percentage of the prizes were awarded through "instant win".

2nd Chance Drawing: If any Grand, First or Second prize is unclaimed, it will be awarded in a 2nd chance drawing conducted on or about 10/15/03. Unclaimed double bonus points will not be awarded.

(4) Grand Prize: A $25,000 scholarship for winner and a 1,000,000 Campbell’s Labels for Education™ Program ("LFE") bonus label certificate to be awarded to an eligible LFE school of the winner’s choice. Approx. retail value ("ARV"): $36,500/each.

(10) 1st Prizes: A $10,000 scholarship for winner and a 250,000 Campbell’s LFE bonus label certificate to be awarded to the school of the winner’s choice.* ARV: $12,875/each.

(100) Second Prize: A $1,000 scholarship for winner and a 10,000 LFE bonus label certificate to be awarded to the school of the winner’s choice.

All scholarships to be awarded as a one time payment, and will be awarded in the form of a check. *LFE bonus labels can only be redeemed by eligible schools via proper LFE procedures. Additionally, the labels of the specially marked cans participating in this promotion will be worth 2 LFE Bonus points when redeemed. A “Scholarship” prize is a one time payment to the winner with the intent that the prize money received be used to help defray the expenses of a recognized educational program of the winner's choice.

You enter the second change drawing through snail mail. Address is on Campbell's web site.

Sigh - every six months a newbie poster has to ask about campbells and opens a sore spot with me.

It's such a waste of precious volunteer time!!

Sorry, this needs to be re-threaded.

I saw a big ad for Campbell's labels program in my Sunday paper today. Something with Sarah Hughes (the Olympic skater) and some scholarship or soemthing. I bet the ad and what they pay Sarah (I love her, by the way!) is more than they give to schools. I almost feel like emailing Sarah and telling her what a bad program this is, I bet she doesn't know.

Hi ya'll
Yes I was the Campbell's Labels chairperson - my very first year ACTIVE in PTA - oh my - 9 years ago. I loved the program, and we had a very active program. I can't recall numbers, but it was HUGE! We received tons of stuff for the PE department - the school district had only $25.00 in her budget that year - so she was very appreciative of every thing we were able to give her - in products that she picked out of the catalog based on the PE dept. needs.

We never ever give the teachers money - only products - and that was perfectly fine with her.

Now a days there are so many other great fundraisers out there that far outweigh the Campbell's program - but I still have fond memories of how happy it made the PE teacher and how much benefit the students received.

PS: I still save all my GE Mills Box Tops and put them in the baggie I've had hanging in the kitchen all these years - so that the kids down the street that still go to the elem. school - can turn them into their classroom baggie and in turn benefit for the products that the PTA purchases with the money that the fundraiser brings in to the PTA. (remember we don't give them the money - only the products they need). So don't stop saving even when you no longer have kids at the school - as long as you buy the food items, clip the box top square and turn them into the PTA/PTO for the students and teachers to benefit!
