More questions about Scrip programs

That is how we do it, except we give parents the option of doing a monthly or weekly. Our Scrip program is mandatory, unless you do a buyout, so we have a lot of participation. As long as you have at least 5 or 6 volunteers, it is a smooth program. People get used to buying, and begin their own routines on how they do it. Our school is around 250 kids, and we have a bout 125 participants. The rest do the buyout, which is silly in my opinion. With Scrip you are getting dollar for dollar. We obtain our grocery certs directly from our local supermarkets, and everyone eats. It's win-win, I think. You DO have to be organized, though.

Hey Shelley.

The person who stated they sell them from 7:30 - 8:00 probably have a supply on hand and then sell them that way.

At our school, we send home an order form. The order form is then returned, with payment. Well tally the order, make the bank deposit and then place the order.

Since we sell them at face value and buy them at a discounted rate you make a large deposit than what is deducted from the company.

When we send an order form home, the ordering time frame is 2 weeks. That way you are more than likely to hit on a pay week. The company we use get the SCRIPS back to us with in a week. We send the orders home with the kids... I know I know you are probably thining oh my... but we haven't had any problems with this. They go home in sealed olain envelopes. If it is a large order, we do place a call to see how they would like to receive the cards.

Something new we are doing this year is putting out a schedule of all the SCRIP orders we are going to do for the whole year...... That will help people budget.

Since we are a public school, we don't have the tuition issue.

The benfit to our parents is that they don't have to take a catalog of candy and wrapping paper to their family and friends to raise money for the school.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you all for your replies on my first question.

SEcond question, how exactly does this work? One school's website said that they only sold their scrip cards once a week from 7:30-8:00. So, let's say you get in this routine, how do you deliver the cards to the buyers? They come pick them up?

Another school's website had this chart showing the % that the school would receive and the % that parents could apply to their tuition. Whoa--this sounds extremely complicated.

Just curious if any of you offer any incentives to your parents? When and where do you sell these? I just couldn't dump this on the school secretary.

Would love anyone's feedback...
thanks so much!
Shelly
