Our Catholic private school offers incentive for parent participation - it's cash & carry only (volunteers are available every friday morning & afternoon, and once a month after all masses) - the families receive 50% of what the school receives. Example - parent buys $1000 of grocery gift cards throughout the year, school receives $100 profit from discount, school sends parents $50.

VERY successful!

Here's some more SCRIP info.
We started our program Oct. 03. We are a Catholic School with 275 families. Our SCRIP program is not manadatory.
We sell grocery and "specialty store" SCRIP. Our program allows parents to buy grocery scrip two ways. Either by order form ( order by Monday and sent home on Thursday) or purchase on Sunday after Masses (we call this cash and carry).

For those families who wish to have their SCRIP sent home with their child, a disclaimer is filled out. We had NO problems sending it home with the kids. Families look for their envelopes on the delivery day.

Speciality orders take 2 weeks to recieve. We use Great Lakes for these orders.

Last school year we earned $17,000.
Any questions?

We use Great Lakes Scrip www.glscrip.com they are WONDERFUL. Excellent customer service, very minimal backorders. We place our order every Friday, before 11;00 and ask that it be shipped overnight. It gets processed on that Monday, and we receive it Tuesday. Tuesday night, two of us fill the orders, and Wednesday morning the envelopes are brought to the school. They go home with the kids on Wed. New orders (if they are weekly) must be in by Friday AM, and the whole thing starts over again. I think that all grocery stores do this. It would be a good way to start. Just call - they'll let you know. Usually a minimum order is $1000. They typically give you 5%. We stock grocery, because they always sell. We'll get around $10,000 Shoprite in $25's $10's and $5's. and just sell them outright. So we order scrip from GLSCRIP and order and pick up our own grocery certs. It's a very profitable program, especially around the holidays. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for all of your replies. I'm getting the hang of it. I don't know why no schools in this area are doing it..maybe no enough local vendors. It would be great if grocery stores around here did it but I haven't heard of any.

I've enjoyed hearing
1) how often you send out order forms for scrip (weekly or monthly)
2) how the cards get to the parents (I can just hear parents saying "I DIDN'T GET MINE!"
3) I'd love to hear the companies that all of you use, if you think they're good.

THNAKS SO MUCH. I've learned so much on this site.
