Our next meeting, May 3rd, I have to present info on fundraisers. 2 that I have been asked to look into that I am having a hard time getting info on is pizza kits and canles. I thought a few years ago at another school we did a candle sale with Yankee Candles but now I can't even find where they do fundraisers. I need to know what the best companies to use for these products are and how to get in touch with them. Any past experiences ( good or bad) selling these products would be go info also. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Another candle fundraising company is The Bittersweet Candle Company. The fundraiser is a Candles and Coffee fundraiser. There is no shipping costs and the organization earns 40% commission on candle and coffee sales. They offer 8oz jar candles in 6 scents with a burn time of 30 hours for $14, two-pack votive candles in the same scents for $4.00 amd 12oz bags of Bittersweet Blends Coffee in Colombian, Colombian Decaf, Hazelnut and Mocha Java for $10 each. I did a Bittersweet Candle fundraiser for a girls basketball team and they did well with the fundraiser. Please contact me if you would like more information.

We have always had good luck with Little Caesar's. In our school of about 550 families, we can usually count on about $4000 of profit as a secondary fundraiser.

You do need to consider the perishability of the product, so we always do the sale during cold/cool weather and we store the boxes outside. Recruit a few volunteers to be on hand throughout pickup day, because the boxes come in bulk and you need to "pick" the order when the parent comes to pick up. If you're lucky, you can get the parent to help pick their own order...just have the areas of boxes clearly labeled so you select the right product.

About 1-2 hours before your cut-off time, start calling the parents who haven't yet picked up their orders. Most times, they've simply forgotten. You might have to deliver a few orders to get them off school grounds, but we havent' had big problems with no shows. Good luck. The Cinnamon Crazy Bread is my kids' favorite.

Thanks for all of your help! Joe Corbi's sounds great but it's not in our area. Yankee Candle looks like it might be priced too high for us. We have alot of low income families. Little Ceasars looks like it might be the best fit but some of your stories have me a little worried. I'll still keep checking back. I have another week until I have to face the board.

We just finished our Little Caesars pizza kits and raised $3,085. You get $5.00 per kit, nothing on the spice kits or pizza cutters. It's been about two weeks and people are asking us to do it again. "If we knew they were that good we would have bought more!". Next year they can all buy more, I'm done for this year.

As for candles, we did the Yankee Candles over at KMA's school for the eight grade dance and raised about $1,500. We just got the fall catalog and it looks really nice, we'll be doing it at my other school in Sept. You get a 25% commission.
