Home Interior candles

No, I am not a rep of any kind. I just wanted to let the person know that most companies offer samples and familiar names sell better at our school. Just to clear things up.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

OK ScottMom, no need to get defensive (must be a H.I. rep) LOL The post was on opinions of what has worked for other groups and I gave what worked well for us. We asked for samples through H.I. and they did bring one of each scent to our meeting for everyone to smell. Unfortunately, that doesn't help the kids when they are out trying to sell to friends and family. When someone asks "what does it smell like?" I've never been very good at describing a scent and what I like someone else may not. There are many other candle companies out there that people know when you say the name ie: Yankee Candles, Salt City, Gold Canyon, just to name a few. We have never done a Yankee Candle fundraiser and I'm not sure if Salt City offers one, but our group thought it was unique of this company and it worked well for us. The candles were comparible in pricing too.

Boltonr, we did cookie dough this year. Otis Spunkmeyer through Kathryn Beich. It was a very good sale. We made almost $5000 and we did it at an odd time to try it out. Our school does 2-4 fundraisers a year and what I found in our school is that familiar names sell best. People know what Otis cookies taste like because they are available all over including Subway. Our moms love Home Interior because it's been around forever and they always smell great. They only other candles we sell are in our spring catalog and they have scratch and sniff. The last thing I want to deal with is someone wanting their money back because the product isn't what they espected. If you want samples, most companies will give you samples of what they sale, if you invite them to your school and tell them you would like samples.

Another candle company to check out is Gold Canyon Candles. We did a fundraiser through Home Interior and then another one through Gold Canyon and we preferred Gold Canyon due to the fact that the prvide you with a sample kit to sell with. We also made more money even thought their commission cut isn't 50%. What I mean by a sample kit is, it's actually had a small wax sample of each scent so customers could smell what they were buying. With so many scents to choose from I think we sold more because people knew what they were buying and therefore made double what we made through H.I. They offer 3 different sizes in each scent, the candles were in within 2 weeks, and the orders put together for us. All we had to do was get the orders to each student. Very easy fundraiser to do. If anyone is interested in checking them out more let me know and I can get you the info or a contact rep.

we have done home interior since 2001, although it is just recent that they started the fundraising line. this year we made about $2500.00 for a school of 469. we always do ours right before the holidays so people buy them as gifts...

Thanks scottsmom! We have 1/2 that many students. I will present HI at next meeting and leave it up to the group. Also having some cookie dough companies present. I had read on a post today about Grandma's Pies. Any opinion on that?
