Coupon Book Sale Question

I can't tell you for the entertainment books, but we are doing the community discount cards, and we had a debate about which way would work best.

We also are going to send flyers home. We feel its the safest way. With so many people and you just don't know everyone anymore. But, we are going to go to the local grocery stores and set up booths for two saturdays to have some "direct sales" to make up for not sending students home with products.

It's sad but true that the world has made us have to be skeptical. I can remember when my mom dropped me off in neighborhoods to sell door to door. What happened to that?

We just completed our first coupon book sale (Entertainment books & KidStuff Books). While they were successful, they were a ton of work for us. obviously as with anything you do for the first time, you live and learn and figure out better ways to do them the next time around.

Someone who had done them for many years in another school informed me today that after the first year, they did not send the books home with each student anymore and just sent home a flyer to let those who wanted to purchase or just check out the books do so. They said they also put out a table of them on Back to School night for purchase as well as putting one in each classroom for parents to look at.

So...my question is, has anyone else ever done this and if so did you suffer a major loss in sales by just not sending them home? This lady today told me their sales were down on slightly and that it was worth it in exchange for how easy it made it for them, but I would like to hear how it worked out for anyone else who may have done them this way.

Thanks! :D
