hi check with your state's gaming board, in va it's fine to do bingo at school without getting a licence if you are going to take in less than $25.000. (I laughed pretty hard when the woman said that, I wish bingo brought in that kind of money!!) Anyhow, we send letters out asking for donations from our local restaurants, hotels, target, local and national businesses.... We get a pretty good response. We do charge admission, it's something like $2. We also have a basket raffle and sell food. I can email you our bingo donation letter if you'd like. Good luck, maggie
Hello, we had a Bingo night this past year that was a big sucess. In our state its considered gambling so we made it a free event. Our PTO bought all the prizes, and to make it a fundraiser we had a snack bar. I hope this helps.

We had our first Bingo night last spring. We learned that in our state you first must get a license ($25) and you can't charge for Bingo when minors play. (Check your state's website for info). We addressed that by charging for the dinner, with Bingo included for free. Tickets cost $5 per person, and included a hot dog, a taco, chips, drink, and popsicle and a bingo card. We solicited prizes from local merchants and purchased more with PTO money. A couple of times during the evening, we had something fun to watch on stage (ex: pie eating contest). Over 400 people attended (better than hoped). It was a great success - fun for the whole family, easy to plan, didn't require tons of onsite volunteers, easy clean-up. In all, it cost us about $1500 to put on, and netted almost $700. We're going to do it in January or February next year since it's crummy out anyway.
I don't know about other states but in New Mexico bingo is treated as gambling. If anyone out there can correct me please do because we really wanted to do a bingo night so I went to the American Legion to find out how to do one and they told me we can't without a license. I brought up the local Catholic Church School and he said they had a license. Just check it out, I'm not sure.
I would like to have a Bingo night at our school early this fall. Could anyone that has done one share with me how to go about doing it? I thought about making it a spaghetti feed as well, but haven't tackled that one either. I am looking for any ideas at all - what different committees I should form, do you charge money or make it a "family involvement" night? How do you run it, what do you need, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
