If you decide to make it a "Family Night", try a pot luck! Assign each grade level with something (We are K-5, but we always include PRE-K). The main course (4TH&5TH), salads (2ND&3RD), desserts (K&1ST), breads (PRE-K), etc....whatever you decide to have. We always have a good turn out. Parents say it feels like the neighborhood pot luck dinners they used to have.

VolunteeMom2003:

The others have given you some good advice. It's important to remember that most PTOs are not just some little social club, they are non-profit organizations (i.e. a type of business) and you need to watch the pertinent rules.

Your state (OR) has nice guide on it's website for charitable organizations. www.doj.state.or.us/ChariGroup/welcome2.htm

And here's the link to "gaming" www.doj.state.or.us/ChariGroup/Howtoraffle.htm

Our PTO holds Bingo each year with our Spring Fling. It's very popular. We dutifully get a license and follow all the rules. We choose to use the disposable paper bingo cards that come two per sheet. We have prizes donated and sell the cards for $1 each per game. (You change colors each game.) We just put containers of crayons on each tables to mark the spaces.
