Alternative fundraising ideas

Karen is the contact for McTeacher Night. I believe you need to go to the Pizza Hut to talk to the manager. I think we make about $200 on our pizza nights by doing them at the store. We have never done the cards.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Sernendipity What kinds of things did you do? I think that may generate more funds for us.

Is it better to do one large, or several small fundraisers during the year?

Everyone's situation is different and I quess it comes down to what works best in your area.

Last year we added a few small fundraisers...things that cost the parents $1-$5 to participate. We recieved a lot of positive feedback and many asked us to run more things like that. Ultimately it was easier for many people to fork over $5 six different times during the year then to fork over $30 in one lump sum.

We do both kinds of fundraisers, some large and some small.

Do I just call my local Pizza Hut or the main one downtown? Wait, there is only one number to call now! I guess I could go there. Is it an in store or a card?

If you want to get a McTeacher Night, there is a waiting lis tin our area. Call the downtown store and ask to speak to Karen Tyler-I can't remember the office number-and she will get you on the list. I think we made about $500 on it. Pizza Hut, CiCi's & Godfather's also do fundraising nights. I know Subway sells cards. Honestly, we barely break even on our carnival. It's a shame that so few businesses support schools in our area and when they do, they are the upper class ones not those that could use the support most.
