No Room for PTO

My group primarily functions off campus. However, our school does have an attic above the gym that we store supplies and carnival games in. And we have a small mailbox system in the school's office (rubbermaid file box with hanging folders for each officer and committee). We have never had an office or room all our own and it's never been a problem. This could be a good time to 'clean house' hang on to only what is really necessary.

The school supply sale could maybe still take place but perhaps just before school. Do you have space in a lobby, gym or cafeteria to set up in?

It sounds like your entire community is going through a transition period. This can be a tricky time for a parent group as you try to grow and adapt along with the community. Maybe focusing on a "New and Improved" theme will help refocus attention on parent involvement?

My garage...that's where all my family fun night stuff is. There is a small file cabinet in the lounge but thats it.
dlf had a good idea if you have the funds...a storage unit. Call and see if you can get a discount or if a parent at the school owns one, then maybe you can it for free.
Good luck!

Do you have the assets to purchase a small storage shed and can you get permission from the school to store it on site. I know ours cost 3k...which seems hefty but at some point you have to invest in yourself. It is hard when you are asking folks to help and you have to take things home to store in peoples closet. Requriements would be however, some sort of secure location (inside a fence line perhaps) or in plain view so local authorities can eyeball. This is one of my big fears...good luck to you...d

We are a VERY small PK-12 school and due to the lack of space and student increase - for the first time in about 10 yrs or so, the PTO will not have a room on campus this year. We usually have school supplies available during the day and we usually sell drinks & snacks after school - which seems to be our dependable and steady income. Since we won't have a room -we have to worry about storing our supplies, furniture and other "stuff" that's accumulated over the years. We were wanting to get helpful info from any orgs that operate w/o being on campus full time. We are really concerned about our future. If losing our room isn't enough, our parent involvment is steadily declining too.
