Difficult Principal

P and TaraKB I know what you mean. Ours is not a relaxing place to be and hasn't been for months. We are treated like children or worse. School is almost done and I'm looking forward to it. Parents we need to know the law (NCLB). Maybe when enough of us know it a lot less of the mistreatment of parents will happen.

We are having the same problem with our principal. If you do what she wants everything is tolerable. If not you get your papers lost, no return calls, left waiting in the hallway for over an hour. Basically nothing gets done. This has been the worst year I've seen. And the principal is new. We took it higher up and was told to work it out. 3 months of school left and counting

We also have a very difficult principal. She only tolerates parents in the school because we have a parental involvement state law. She knows I will insist she follow it. She is all for us doing for the school as long as it is exactly as she wants it. If the parents vote other than her way she refuses to help. This happened with our latest project, but the superintendent got on board with us and we carried through with our project. At the beginning of the school year she put chains and locks on doors to keep parents out! It is unfortuante some of us come up against these walls when we are only working to improve our school.

Rizzy what do you do if the parents are just fed up and won't come? No matter how much you tell people that there is strength in numbers they just don't want to be involved. The strain is great. I think that is why some parents are drive-by parents. They drive up and drop their kids off and just stay out of school affairs and bide the time until their children go to the next school.

I feel your pain. We had someone like that for a number of years. I don't understand if it is just a power trip or what!?! You would think with the NCLB act that principals would embrace parents for even trying. All I can tell you is to keep trying and remember why you got into this in the first place. The children.
