Denise, have ya'll thought about having the PTA/PTO gals, and the office gals too - wear chef hats! I'm not sure where you could purchase them very inexpensively, but they would be so cute.

Monday's Theme: "Our Teachers/Staff have the recipe for success." We are asking each student to bring a family favorit recipe to their teacher. Each teacher/staff member will recieve a balloon bouquet and coursage. And parents are preparing a pot luck lunch.
Tuesday's Theme: "Because Your so Sweet - We say Thank You!." Each child will be asked to bring a specific sweet with a special note to fill a basket for their teacher (example: a Mounds Bar - for the mounds of stuff you teach!) Parents are sending homemade sweets to place in the lounge for snacking. We are having a "Look how sweet" contest, where teachers are to guess which baby picture belongs to which teacher/staff member.
Wednesday's Theme: "P.E.S. Teachers/Staff are #1 in Our Book." Everyone will dress like their favorite storybook character. Teacher/Staff will be given a cookbook created from recipes submitted by faculty/staff members. Students are asked to bring a new or slightly used book for their teacher's classroom collection.
Thursday's Theme: "Our Teacher/Staff are Souper" Parents are supply a soup and salad meal. Students are asked to bring a classroom supply item for the teacher's basket, each attached with a special note (Glue- for holding things together)

Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2-6, 2005.
Each day, our parent group does something for the teachers that week. We provide a luncheon buffet, which is all donated by parents. And, let me say, that it is scrumptious! We send home a note to parents asking them to write notes to their child's teacher about how much they appreciate the teacher or something nice that the teacher did for their child. We wrap up a handful of Hershey's Kisses in colored wrap with a ribbon and write a nice quote about teachers on it, and put one in every teacher/staff's box.
Last year brought in a gal that rotated around the teachers lounge and massaged the teachers shoulders/neck during their lunch break. They really loved that!
We also surprised them by bringing in parent volunteers on a Friday evening and totally cleaned and spruced up the teachers lounge. We even cleaned the carpet and seats! We restocked all of the essentials and cleaned from the ceiling down. We left notes on the table from all of the volunteers helping that evening and fresh flowers. On Monday morning, which was the first day of Teachers Appreciation Week, we brought in breakfast for them. They had a great surprise that morning when they saw the beautiful make-over that we gave their lounge. They still talk about that!
We did the baby picture thing and that was a lot of fun for not only the students, but the teachers had a blast trying to figure out who was who, too!
Teachers are special! They have our children sometimes 6-8 hours Monday through Friday. I hope that you all make the teachers at your schools feel special, they deserve it.
OK, not up to par today, so could someone tell me when Teacher Appreciation day/week is. I would like to do something special, just need to make sure that I have plenty of time to plan.

Wash their cars.
Run errands.
Have the kids write on a paper flower a nice word/note and create a little paper bouquet for them... give each teacher a flower vase and ask the students to each bring in ONE flower, from a garden, flower shop, etc. The teacher will have a full vase in no time!
It seems we are being hit hard with catalogs for this event. Some of the items I saw that were nice were spa kits that you could make with stress balls and bath salts and cute little sayings. It would be cheaper to order these form other places and put them together but some of the best ideas came from www.positivepromotions.com
