In the words of Rob Schnider "YOU CAN DO IT!"

UPDATE--killed at the fundraiser--$12,000 raised!! :D A lot of the thanks goes to Bertha, who ROCKS! Without her help we could NEVER had done as well as we did, or even had the event for that fact!

BTW--guess who didn't show up?

Not that I actually expected her to, BUT.... In fact not only did she or the vice principal NOT show up, neither did ONE SINGLE TEACHER (the one who DOES get involved with us is VERY pregnant, so we let her off the hook). This has nothing to do with spending money to show support for the group--not one even offered to help sell tickets for an hour etctera.

It's nice to know that there's no problem with school spirit or support at our school (that principal of ours really has her pulse on the attitude of the school, eh?).

"Metz"--you are the best! Every time I read your posts I wonder if we were separated at birth or something! I just finished reading and responding to the post about all that nonsense with your group. Everytime I think about it I shake my head sadly--but you have supporters--which is GREAT, and YOU can hold your head high as well knowing you're doing your best!

I know I wasn't "tattling," but deep down inside I feel like I was--I wasn't particualrly interested in justice--I just wanted to illustrate that we aren't all as perfect as we seem to think we are, and well, if getting her ass in a sling was part of the deal.... :D

I'm expecting the next round of "issues" to crop up tomorrow--we started plastering posters all over town for our basket raffle, and we didn't kiss her ring before we hit the pavement. We wanted to get them out ASAP, and I brought one to her office hoping to catch her. Naturally she's out for the day, so I bring it to the Vice Principal, who looked at it and said he'd leave it in her in-box. I felt like I do when I ask my son to go ask his father something, and he moves about five feet away from me and SCREAMS, "DAAAD--Mommy wants to know..." I saved my energy and skipped my eye roll, and went to the BOE offices instead. I had approval about half an hour later from the super himself. I was debating about letting the principal know via email that I hung them with the super's approval as oppsoed to hers--it would be fun to have one of the "concerned parents" wave the poster in her face wanting to know if she approved it, getting called in and chastised, then being able to say, "Well, Dr. X approved it so I figured it was OK to go ahead." But I decided I'd better behave myself for now and let well enough alone, so I emailed her a note.

My VP and I did, however, write the super a lengthy letter detailing our disppointments and concerns--this broad (as my husband so fondly refers to her) is up for tenure, and I'll be damned if she gets it without changing her attitude! We also enclosed some previous notes and letters we'd exchanged with her proving we'd been trying to solve this problem for some time on our own and that our principal seems to have some communication deficiencies.

Concerned mom--welcome to the boards!

It never ceases to amaze me how devisive some people in a place of authority can be. We have seen the same thing at our school...different rules for different folks. Good for you for going to the top. It is time that the business of school went back to educating our kids instead of it being these petty power struggles between admin and parents. As parents, we expect the best from our kids and we expect the best from the people they spend 6 1/2 hours 5 days a week with. Your principal should be reminded that she is also there to set an example for children and should behave as such!

It most certainly was NOT tattling! In fact, it was a perfect example of the impression she has made on you to pay closer attention to the rules and to follow them. No one can fault you for following her ever so divine (hmm) guidance.

Rules are rules after all! :D

(by the way, I haven't flexed those 4 muscles since high school-yeah a little bit then-, just in case everyone is starting to think I'm a brawler!)

IF I BELIEVED IN REINCARNATION I'd swear were were either related or were soul sisters or shared the same brain at some point in life...

I know how you are feeling and it would appear that neither of us has thick enough skin... (I started to put my ever-present 'lol' after that but I'm not sure that it is funny). I have spent the last two days crying over mistreatment from my fellow officers and from the principal. These are all people I thought were not quite friends, but certainly much more than acquaintances.

I don't think 'tattled' is the correct word here. I think the words 'fought back fairly' would be more appropriate. You know what I mean? I'm sure it will be called tattling by some, but you and I (and I think I can safely speak for most of us here - I'm not speaking for them, just suggesting that most probably feel the same way about it) know that it was justified defense. There is a difference.

You know that you did the right thing. Hold your head up, make plans to keep on bull-dogging, and move on from this stressful situation. You've done what you should even if the principal didn't. I guarantee you that it has not even entered her mind that she should give you, a minion in her mind, an apology.

Doing the right thing is not always easy. Bravo to you for doing the right thing anyway.

Next time, if you want better results (or should I say 'more just results'), try MichelleB's advice and flex those 4 muscles... lol... just kidding, just kidding... but truth be known, I feel better thinking about it that way. In my case, I did the right thing in my situation too, but I can't help but still feel like the wrong thing might have given me better satisfation. Go have a drink in Page Two. I'll try to meet you there tonight...

I'm sorry you are in this boat. Do me a favor. Do this right now... don't read it all the way through first, just do what it says step by step:
1. Take your left hand and place it on the back of your right shoulder.
2. Take your right hand and place it under your left armpit. Make sure it goes around to your back as far as you can reach.
3. Now squeeze and count to 10.
That will have to do as my hug for you.

Elizabeth
