PTO mets Admin "lunch"

20 years 1 month ago #65066 by mykidsmom
Yeah, K-12. The problem we ran into this past year is the Principals for the middle and high school had no idea that the PTO paid for so many little things. Teachers finally spoke up and said "You know PTO pays for that..." This meeting is SO needed.
It also be came apparent when the new officers were asking me "Who is that?" and I indroduced them to the Principals of their own children for the past year! Yeah.

I agree, dutch would be better, besides they each got a raise ;) .

I think each should pay for their own meals. We know administrators can afford it. ;)

Your a K-12 school right. I think it would be great to have a sit down with the newbies to find out what they expect and give them a heads up on your groups ideas.

hmmmm....good question. I'm thinking it might not look too good to treat yourself to lunch. I might ask the principal(s) if you could "meet for lunch" some time. That sort of sounds like everyone is paying for their own, to me. If you said "We'd like to take you to lunch" it might sound like we're paying but "meeting" sounds like a dutch treat thing.

I'm looking at before school starts so leaving the building is as easy as walking out the door! Besides, they all carry Nextel phones so they are really never "away".

You really think the PTO should pay? To do a catered lunch is to eat cafeteria food because the school kitchen handles all the catering...I'll just leave that one alone ;) .
The trick is what time, as my other two moms have "real" ;) jobs, see what we can work out.

We will be hiring a new assistant principal for this coming year and I think this sounds like an awesome idea! I just wonder if you could manage to "get away" form the school? What if you did a "catered" lunch brought to the school? I just wonder about leaving grounds during the school day sort of thing in case of emergencies. And I think that, depending on what your budget looks like, your PTO should pay for it. It would be a great time not only for "get-to-know-you"'s, but also to feel out each other for new ideas and run new ideas passed the new admin. Also to see how much the new admin. is willing to work together. I love the idea. May even try to use it!! Thanks! :D

I have never been in this situation, but I think your lunch idea sounds like a great one. Be sure to go somewhere quiet enough that you can easily carry on a conversation. Good luck!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.
