Nazi Principal

You have two choices: 1. Change schools 2. Adjust to it. Those rules don't sound harsh to me. Rules are rules and esp in school you need to be a good role model by following them. Even as an adult. I'd rather my child have a principal with rules like that then one that lets kids get away with everything.

Also, did you ever try to find a "sky blue" uniform set on short notice? Wal-mart/K-mart have Navy, but that's it. It does seem rather Fascist to send a student away due to the color of their shirt - not that unusual of a comparison at all.

French Toast, JCPenney's catalog, Mervin's to name a few. Most offer a uniform recycle program if you ask.

A dress code is a dress code. You would change your tune if you lived in fear......the memory of Columbine still lingers here in Denver and is part of the reason we adopted such dress code.

Approach the principal with your concerns, if you are not happy with the responses, and I mean if they aren't really legitimate, then go to the next level. I live in a large district (164 schools) and we have our district divided into regions. I can go to the Regional Superintendent with my complaint. Why not go to your School Board Representative. You elected them, let them earn their money. They can approach the problem while allowing you to remain unknown. It may be a simple case of principal counseling is needed before there is a lawsuit.

Have you approached the principal with your concerns? Perhaps a small group(2-4) could arrange a meeting to discuss the things the parents are unhappy with. Finding out the reasons for her heavy-handed discipline may shine some light on the situation. Maybe she is not aware of how she is perceived by the students and parents. Don't be confrontational, just go there with the attitude that we need to work together to make our school a place where our children love to come. If at the end of the meeting, you feel like you got nowhere, then I would recommend having your small group approach the superintendent and school board.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

At our school the "quiet time" is asked while everyone eats; as kids finish their lunch they can talk quietly while cleaning up their table. The kids are asked to stay in line and be respectful while walking down the hall, but I don't think they are required to hold their hands at their sides. Sometimes the girls all hold hands (on their own), etc.

I'd be one of those to seek change or moderation to the policy and then look to see if anyone follows the example. Even if I ended up alone up there, hopefully my kids would understand my stand for the need for rules and order, but that discipline in the semi-structured times of their day should be reasonable.

I've found that teachers and staff that are very new in their positions tend to be rather heavy-handed - Is the Principal new to the job? (We have an new art teacher that is so strict in class that she seems to be stifling creativity)

*Navy pants with white or navy polo shirt
*our children practice signing their ABC's till grade three, they sing a quiet song. This is to walk down the hall.
* Lunch is 20 minutes....period.
* Need to be reibursed for the stuff you purchased for the PTO, fill out this paper, need your reciept, make 3 copies, submitted it to the school because they hold the accout and write the check to you with two signatures.
*Want to come into my school, well, you need your id and sign in, don't forget your pass!
*no talking on the buses unless they can keep the comverstation quiet.

I have my children in a CHarter school and LOVE it!

don't like get out.

Also I am VERY OFFENDED by your choice of name for your principal. Adolf Hitler was a monster and my mother-in-law lived in Germany during his administration. You will NEVER have any idea what a real Nazi is......
