If you already have the Articles of Incorportation, you have the first step done. Remember that running a PTO is a not-for-profit BUSINESS. Too many people think of it as a social group just helping out.

Can anyone please direct me to a link for a quick lesson on incorporation and getting a state tax id number. Our ex president last year was changing us over from PTA to PTO and we wanted to become incorporated. Well it is over a year and we are incorporated but we do not have a state tax id yet. She is VERY BITTER at not being elected pres again this year, and we cannot get any info out of her (we are all blocked from emails.) Yes, I have the new job of pres. and need help. :confused: All I have is a letter of incorporation. I don't know what she filed, etc. I know there are certain rules you must follow when you are incorporated but what they are???? Any links or suggestions would be MOST GREATLY APPRECIATED.
