How exactly does your bylaws define "eligible candidates" and "members". And remember, even if she falls within the guidelines, she still has to campaign and win the election.
In our district, any registered voter can run, within guidelines, for a school board position. But PTO board members must be the parent or guardian of a student at the school.

I just ran into a parent whose child will not be at our school next year and says that she wants to be the president of the PTO next year. Is that possible? According to her it does not say anything in the by-laws about having to have a student in the school . . . but isn't that what a PTO is? You know haveing a child in that school and trying to do things to benefit not only your own child but all others that pass through? Our school gets out in June and I would like to let her know either way if that is possible.
