We use folks that are not affiliated with the PTO Board of the year being audited. Just keeps it cleaner...d

Thanks for the reply!

We probably couldn't do it exactly that way, because the President and Treasurer sign checks together (we require 2 signatures).

But does this mean we don't need a CPA or anything "special?"

And can you post the standard form?

TIA!

Our president does it with the treasurer present with a standard form from ages ago. When it is done and signed off, we tell the group and offer anyone a view at it before that year's files are put in the back of the closet. No one ever wants to do it unless they are trying to prove a point but it is one of those boring tasks that needs to be done.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Who do you have perform your audits?

If you have volunteers do it, are they CPAs? Bookkeepers? Parents who understand basic accounting principles?

We are behind on our audits and don't want to spend the large sum of money it would take to hire a professional to do our audits.
