If you put "approved community members" be sure to put who does the approving and the guidelines that should be followed. That would help with any conflicts in the future. I too have been thinking about this.

Well...It seems we have alot to learn, but we are eager and willing. Our school had a PTA about 15 or more years ago, and nothing since then. We are hoping to get more parents involved in the school so all kids can benifit. It's been a little scary at times, but we are working hard for this! Thanks for all your help and time. This site is awesome! :D

Our by-laws are made up of anyone that would like the help better the school for the future of the children.

Co's was put in place couple years ago also. It works pretty good. Since we are PTO we put in our by-laws no membership fee. Some parents complained about $5.00 per family and now some complain because it is free. So GOOD LUCK

Our bylaws were rewritten in 2001 and our committee consists of the following; President/Co-President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary/Co-Secretary, 2-3 Teachers, School Principal. We began offering the opportunity of "Co's" at this time because it allows more people to be involved and gives us back-up should someone not be able to attend a meeting. It works very well for us. Good Luck.

We have "members" who are parents, teachers and staff. We also have "honorary" members who are past parents, teachers, staff or anyone in our community who basically wants to help. You can see our bylaws on our website:

Click on the bylaw page and have a good read....We just recently updated ours after a mini-struggle this year.....use anything you like!
