You guys are so not going to believe this! We decided that the election will be on Wednesday May 1st. Well, the past president took it upon herself to take the only copy that we have of the membership (I know I should have gotten a copy at the beginning of the year, but, that didn't happen!!) She has been calling people telling them to vote for the woman I am running against. Not only that but she decided to take my name, the vice-president's name and my best friend, who is a teacher's name off of the list. what do I do about this?? This is getting ridiculous. I have many people saying that they are going to vote for me, but amazingly none of their names are on the list. They all swear that they paid for their membership. I am so ticked off. What do I do??

Here is the update i called the School board, as usual i got transfered from one person to another. I am still waiting for a call back. The two different people that i talked to both agreed that it is a conflict of interest to hold a full time position and be on the pto board. I will let you know what happens. Tomorrow night is the Spring fair that should be a big circus.

our bylaws specifically state, and i quote,"employees of the richmond elementary school district shall not be able to hold any office in the organization." seems to me if you can't find the votes there should be a recount. good luck tigger.

I would speak with the school districts policies because most district won't let employees serve on a PTO board. So that may take care of the problem. Are you sure 100% of the parents voted. From past experience when we have had voting ballots not all 100% of the PTO members vote which is sad. So we are very careful that we have proper identification when casting their votes and do require their signature as well.
I would first start off with the school district policy.

Hello I am a new Parent on this forum. I was told about this from a dear friend of 5 years. I am the parent that was cheated in the election. There Is a lady that has been in charge of the things in the school 8 years. The principal has been changed 2 times. She gets into people faces and demands that things go her way. When I was running there was no one running against me. She found someone to run against me and molded her into a miny her. She was also a neighbir of mine which caused a problem. I as told that there were 96 families in the pto and that everyone had voted. But when i asked for a recount the key came up missing. The votes that were recounted 48 families. So what about the the other ones? This lady is very two faced and to top it all off she is employed by the school district that she is on the pto board for. This to me is a conflict of interest. How can you do what is best for children when you know personal info on most of the children and can give special attention to the children of your friends. If someone can let me know if they two feel that it is a conflict of interest and what can we as parents do to prove this to whe new principal that we have this year.
