We have had a lot of hits on our site this year. At the bottom of our site is a hit counter. I think that we are up to about 2500 this school year.

Shawn, you are so right, you have to put the website on everything you do so that people will remember that it is there.

I can't remember if this is our second or third year with this site, but once you get your followers...they will look at the site at least weekly as long as you are updating it.

it really depends - the website traffic.

Ours is new (1 mo old) we have had about 30 hits per day.

Mainly I'd say use it as another communication tool, remember to keep it relevant and updated.

With a limited # of people at each school your not going to get 1,000's of hits/visits per day/ mo but I'd say 20-30% of school population using it would be wonderful.

Also post the web address on any and everything you can.

Thanks everyone. I'm going into Overload now. Mom2Punkin I will consider the software I will talk to the group about the purchase. Thanks PTOCES for the link to your site. Some good reading, I like the format.

If anyone would like to send me a copy of there Bylaws my email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Thank you again.

I have a question for the schools that have websites. How much traffic do you get on your site. I work in the IS field so I have a lot of interest in the Internet for information.

Thanks,
Jeff Welch

No, you never want to do this from scratch. Get samples from other PTOs that have good processes (and are ideally a 501(c)(3)). Review those and customize what you want to for your group.

Warning - bylaws are very boring. After the first few paragraphs, it's really easy to think "sounds good, looks official" and not really think about the wording. A lot of the basics are the same, but there are subtle difference in the ways due are handles, officer names and duties, who is on the board, etc.

Hi Jeff and welcome to PTO Life. :D
If you use the search feature over there <===== and put in bylaws, you are going to get alot of info. There will also be alot of links to sites where bylaws are included. I did alot of printing out and then circling what would work for us or was or wasn't pertinent to our group.
This board is an endless fountain of resources and information, welcome to it!
