The ULTIMATE Donation List

12 years 8 months ago #158893 by ceciliaky
I've looked into trying to put together some sort of Florida package for the last 2 years -- I could never get the airfare donation. I think, if you have airfare, then hotel might be easier to come by. Check Universal & Sea World's policies, they're pretty specific on what they'll consider -- I remember wording about calling it a "Central Florida Package" or something like that.

First let me start by saying you ladies/gentlemen are amazing people dedicating your time. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions I have used all of them wisely. I have a couple of questions though and hope that some of you could help.

1. What is the best approach in trying to getting a hotel to donate a couple night rooms in Florida? We recently received the hopper passes promise from Disney and would now like to couple it with hotel accomidations. We are going to add the airfare ourselves and then might try to see if Sea World or Universal would be willing to donate. I've received a few rejection letters has anyone had any luck and if so with who and how?

2. How does your organization go about trying not to let people cheat at a tricky tray/basket raffle? I was hoping to try and get our tickets with a unique code on them so that when we read the number we see and the code and we know it a legitimate ticket. Unforntunately people do cheat and have access to tickets and bring them to the event and we are trying to stop that. One local school rolls the back of the tickets with a stamp but we are expecting 600 guests so I don't think marking every ticket is an option. Any suggestions or ticket websites would be appreciated.

Thank so much. Donna

Gwen,

I would love to get your list as well. We just had our meeting last night and decided to go ahead with our Spring Showcase and silent auction. We are working hard on local businesses, but really need some big ticket items.

Coach - We contacted them through the website. A rep called us to get further information and then sent us a black leather coach purse.

TJ Maxx - After sending to the corp address - we made a phone call to our local TJM whose manager was able to get approval for a gift card, which was then sent from corporate.

I work on several charities - one is a school. I have found that companies who do not donate to schools in general will donate for a specific cause. Instead of "please donate to our silent auction", try "please help fund our new (insert project here)".

For our school, we have a seperate irs number for the parent association. This, usually, bypasses requesting for a school. Carefully worded requests make the difference.

This is reference to Kelly's post a while earlier - we are also around Philadelphia and would love to see which companies you have contacted!
