page two......

Yep, just a few more weeks.... My best friend there already has a table reserved at our favorite coffee shop. I do miss meeting her for breakfast. And, good for her, she joined a gym and has been breaking in a new trainer so she's ready to work out with me three days a week. That's a good friend! Coffee and danish two days a week, weights and cardio three days a week. A pretty good balance, huh?

I see alyssum growing so beautifully in other yards. It's such a pretty flower. I never really invest in perennials since I'm never in one place long enough to enjoy them. Instead, I waste a ton of money on mixed planters and baskets every summer so I have some color and fragrance in the yard. It's worth it to me and there are so many pretty annuals too.

I would go with darker colors like the purples or reds, or best of all try to coordinate the colors with other flowers you may have blooming in your yard. I'm not doing any petunias at home this year. Guess I'm tired of them. I've been trying out some new, more exotic stuff. I planted lots of alyssum(not really exotic, but I found it a couple years ago and loved it) this year along the front sidewalk and in pots on the front steps and on the patio. It smells good, flowers profusely, and the butterflies love it. It is however low growing, but trails nicely over the sides of pots.

I have the same clothes shopping problem with my kids. Daughter has been driving me nuts for a couple of years now, but a couple of months ago my son started too. He's not quite as picky as his sister, but has definitely decided that he has a certain style he is trying to achieve. It doesn't involve any piercing, tattoos, hair dye or eyeliner, so I'm going along!

CC, you don't have too long to wait before you're back in the great Midwest! I don't know if I could move as much as you have. I'm a real homebody and lack a truely adventurous side, so I wouldn't be good at it.

Sounds like tons of Summer Fun, Silver! Trailing Petunias are so pretty. I guess it depends on the color of your house, but I'm always a fan of fuschia petunias. Light colors would be pretty against a dark house like red brick and purple against a yellow or white house. And, of course, whatever complements your other blooming plants.

I got to use the big boy toys at the gym today - push up bars off the bench! I looked like a total newbie but I'll get it..... A few weeks ago I casually mentioned to my trainer that she has perfect shoulders and maybe someday I could have shoulders like hers. So, we've worked shoulders into every single workout for the past four weeks. Ow....

I'm here! Spent a 4 day weekend going to local (and not so local) nurseries and summer clothes shopping. I am not sure when it happened but my kids have become quite picky about their clothing. If they are not along forget getting anything they will wear and even if they do come along I know I will return something they thought they liked in the store but can't live with 2 days later.
The planting itch has really caught on around here ... actually had to navigate through a crowd on Sunday to look at hanging baskets. I think I am going with trailing petunia baskets ~ haven't picked a color yet but they are pretty eye catching. Any favorite colors out there I should check out?

The movers show up here June 4. We should be packed up and headed north by the weekend. Then they'll show up to unload on the 11th/12th. I should be finished unpacking just in time for the next move.....

That's a sunburn worth suffering through! It's awful generous of your friend to want to take on that daunting task-it could be tough! I'm ready for some pool weather. We had a pretty dreary weekend and it's supposed to be rainy all week. Yuck! Hoping it will hold off today until my son's baseball game is over. Do you have your final move date set?
