Amazing Race-Family Fun Night

Use your committee members as researchers by giving them certain countries. They are to investigate on line or via travel books to find out local customs for those countries, products that are unique there, or professions. Then when you meet back, have all the information collected and the committee can sit and think about what type of challenge they can do for each country. The ones Jim suggested seem really fun.
If this is a parent-child event, you can have a ton of fun by the parent having to be the silly one or eat the "specialty" foods!! (nothing gross, but out of the ordinary foods or eating regular foods blindfolded & telling them that they are eating something else could cause a funny reaction)

Doing it for my one and only ~~ my son!

I would contact some local businesses and see if they would be willing to help out. For example, conact a local Tae Kwon Do dojan and see if they would be willing to be part of the the event. They could represent Korea and one of the kids might have to perform a certain kick and break a board before being able to move on. Maybe for Norway or Sweeden you could have a pair of land skies (simply boards (2' x 6' x 8') with roped tied through). The team has to walk a course on the boards before moving on. How about table tennis for, would it be China or Japna? Maybe see if there is a local club or expert who would be willing to be part of the event. An adult would have to score a point before moving on. Maybe have the expert a child. Maybe use soccer for England or someplace. Maybe baseball for Cuba.

Anyway, hope these help.

Good luck,

Hello everyone...looking for tips and ideas. Last year we had a very successful version of Survivor that the kids got a large kick out of. We are hoping to continue down that path by doing the Amazing Race this year. That seems like an excellent addition to our Family Fun Night events because there is plenty of room there to make it educational while still being fun. Anyone done anything like this yet? We are drawing up some basic ideas but we are always ready to pick up something someone else has had success with!

Thanks!
Carrie
