Event_Samples... a question

16 years 9 months ago #137655 by njmom
I'll echo volunteermom. We would be able to store the drinks BUT we would need to know to the day when to expect shipment for a perishable product. Our Flat Earth samples (Thank You!) came the day after the email. I didn't expect shipment until next week at the earliest.

Where do you find out about these free samples?
We would like to participate in trying the free samples, but I have not had much luck with this.

Any help or guideance on where to get the free samples for our students would be great.

Thanks

I agree that the size of the boxes would make all the difference. Also, NOT COMPLAINING, but accuracy of delivery date would help. We got our chips three weeks earlier than expected. BUT THAT'S OK, we found storage on top of a filing cabinent in a seldom used stair well. HA! One of the teacher's was willing to share her hiding spot.

We love the free stuff, just kind of got caught off guard. How big are the boxes?

We are lucky that our food staff always works with us concerning using their facilities. They will always find room for anything we need. However, for this situation, it would depend on the size of the boxes. A 24-pack soda case size? Sure, we could hold onto 4 or 5 cases for a time. Larger than that may require asking the local grocer for a favor that I'm not sure he would allow.
Too bad the product would require constant refrigeration and couldn't just be chilled before serving.
We would definitely be interested but would need some more specifics concerning sizing and timing on shipping to timing of an event to pass the out.

So many of you may know (or have benefited from) some of the sampling programs that we've made available these last couple of years.

Examples = A couple of thousand groups just got a couple of hundred samples each of Flat Earth healthy snacks for fall family events. This past spring, about 1,000 groups got to sample Kid Did-Its pretzel snacks at their events. All free. Those type offerings have been huge hits.

We have a company interested in something similar with a healthy drink. But the big packages of drinks would need to be delivered cold (therefore met by a volunteer or the like at the school) and stored cold until the event. Could be as many as 5 or 6 good-sized boxes that you'd need to keep cold for a week or a couple of weeks.

So my question.... would your group be able to take advantage? Interested? Would it be a big headache? How would you make that work, if you were interested.

It's the refrigeration piece that we're wondering about. With the Flat Earth product, for example, 4 big boxes (fairly light boxes, at that) could be dropped at the school office unannounced and the volunteer could grab them 3 days later and the event could take place three weeks later. Not as simple with heavier boxes that need to be immediately cold stored.

Insight appreciated. Important for us to make sure it works for groups and also to be honest with a potential partner.

Thanks,

Tim
