We have a "Testing Pep Rally" scheduled for the Friday before state testing. We were able to work with our feeder high school. They are sending part of the marching band, several athletes, (who already come to school on a weekly basis to read with some of our fifth grade students) and members of the booster club. As adults in the building, we have tried the standard pep talks for months. It tends to come off as blah, blah, blah. When the high school kids talk, our kids listen.

Our old school did "Power Water"-- Bottled water relabled as 'Power Water' to drink on test days

A popcorn party rally

Maybe incorporate the local sports teams motto logo -- make a 'Fake' SB test trophy for the school

We are putting on a Pep Rally next Friday for our TAKS test. We are holding a contest starting tomorrow for a "Pie In The Face" for any teacher in grades 3-5. We are setting up jars in the gym in the mornings and at lunch time. The students can pay .25 per vote. They just put their quarters in the jar with the teacher's name on it. The teacher with the most "votes" by Thursday will get the pie in the face at the pep rally on Friday. The money we make from the votes will go to buy the TAKS teachers lunch the day of testing. Another thing we plan on doing during the pep rally is have a "Fear Factor" Relay Race because we Fear No TAKS TEST! We are going to do several physical stunts as well as the typical Fear Factor type stunts like grab gummy worms out of a bowl of whip ceam without using theirhands, and also an eating contest with either anchovies or making the "kitty litter cake." The last thing we plan on doing is a little skit put on by the teachers to motivate the students, make them laugh, and let them know that everyone has a little bit of anxiety before the big test, but the will survive!!

You can have the students make decorations like posters and banners and they can be hung in the halls and auditorium. Someone can pick up a bunch of balloons from the dollar store. The principal and teachers can get up on stage and speak to the children about preparing for the test, test anxiety, getting a good night sleep, etc.

Positive Promotions is a great company that has wonderful products you can buy to celebrate. You can buy the children pencils, bookmarks, lollipops. A company called It's Elementary also has great products. You can even shop at Sam's Club and buy in bulk. Good luck to you!
