Dr Seuss Birthday/Reading Night

We also send out a form that kids can order a hat to wear for Dr. Sueess day.
You can order them from Rhode Island novelty, oriental trade or u.s. toy.
We sell the hats for 2.25 each to the kids. Very reasonable and everyone gets into the day with wearing their hat.

When my son was in 4th grade we had a Dr. Seuss birthday party. The treats were aqua colored rice crispy treats with red and white sprinkles (signature cat in the hat colors!) Maybe for such a large group you could order icing sugar cookies or cupcakes with those colors.

I also went to the link FoxMom mentioned and printed off fun stuff for the kids to do.

Write giant poems on craft paper and hang them on the walls but leave the key words blank and ask kids and parents to make up words for them.

Of course you have to have Fun in a Box activities. Maybe you don't have Thing One and Thing Two but you sure could come up with something else to put in boxes.

When is your reading night? If you pick up a few Dr. Seuss books and read through them it won't take long to get the sing-song type verses he uses running through your head. From there it would be easy enough to write a poem specific to your school, mascot or theme.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."

Go to www.seussville.com They have some great ideas, poems, printables to use. Also search the web-- you can find plenty of free cat in the Hat word searches plus coloring pages.

I have lost my creativeness! I can not come up with any good ideas, poems or activities for our reading night with a theme of Dr. Seuss's birthday party.
