As PRez I used open house to let everyone know what out PTO does for the school and children. We hung Posters out in the hallways for sign ups. WE hung balloons from each one. After my speech, I had people waiting in line to sign up for committess The principal was so thrilled by the turn out. I read the volunteer tool kit from PTO Today and my speed blew everyone away.
Not a person spoke while I talked. I added humor and asked for help in specific areas and people coming up to me about my speech.
Thank you to this website! I told parents why they should volunteer and how it makes for happy principal, happy children and YES Happy Teachers.
