I know, I know. Our district adopted the same policy this year and I was initially quite shocked at the extent of the policy too. However, I have come to view the policy as a positive thing for the students of our school. It is obvious these days that some kids get their fair share of sweets and high fat foods outside of school. It's nice to have our educational system take the responsibility to teach our children healthy choices and eating habits. Kansas

Our Wellness kick ends when the bell rings-thank God! If they are on such a nutrition binge, why not improve what they serve too?

So we receive this wellness program they implemented in our schools, which I will agree on to a certain extent - no cupcakes, no munchkins, nothing that has sugar as its first ingredient - so no more of that - fine. But, we have our back to school night where families come to school to meet the teachers, we are holding our book fair with Clifford - cute, and we supply hospitality which always consisted of coffee, tea, juice for the kids and cake and cookies. Not this year though. They want to continue the wellness program to night events because kids will be there. So, we were instructed to supply trail mix and coffee. Are you kidding?>?> What have we come to as a society? No more ice cream parties for special events - no hospitality for grandparents day - like what the heck is going on? Does anyone have this going on where they are? We are in NJ.
