This is my first year as PTO President and I am trying everything new and different.
This year - we started school on Tues,Sept 5th --- I planned to have a Welcome Back Picnic on Wed the 6th - we handed out notices to the children the first day of school, had a big banner as parents dropped off their kids the first day and had annoucements. We have about 270 families and I would say about 100 families showed up.
Everyone brought a blanket and their own dinners - PTO provided Sno Cone desserts - cost was about $80 for cups, machine rental and flavoring.
It was complete hit - everyone loved it and want to make it a tradition!!!
Just an idea for next year - to get things started - a great welcome back and positive note for PTO before the fundraiser pack comes out!!!
