Check out www.isafe.org. They have a great Internet safety program [img]smile.gif[/img] that include vidoes and tip sheets and alot of other information about Internet safety issues. All of their stuff is easy to use so you can do them during a PTA meeting, etc. They also have curriculum and assemblies for the students. They just put a new online learning program on their site too. It's all FREE!! Very cool.
A great place to look is to your local community groups such as the Lions club, Rotary club and take it one step farther and try you local youth organizations like the afterschool center, things like that.Often these groups are biting at the bit to share info...good luck

You may want to investigate "experts" in your own school or school district. Many teachers have a pet subject that they may love to share with parents. For instance, one of our Title One teachers is very interested in current brain research. I asked her to speak to parents at a parent coffee and it was a hit. So look around, put out a questionaire to your staff looking for volunteers.
I have found the ladies at the local library to be of great value. They seem to know speakers and performers in your local area.
I also spend alot of time to on the web looking for a subject and make my own program
Speakers can be a good idea. We've also found that family events are great ways to get parents attending school functions (a first step to further involvement). That's why we started the School Family Nights program -- www.schoolfamilynights.com
I am interested in setting up programs for our pto meetings that have a topic. Like internet safty, and childhood obesity. Any ideas would be appreciated.
