Volunteer dinners

I have been to a few but haven't but together one. The one at our church starts with a prayer (you could start with a thank you poem) and then the church staff perform a funny song and dance ( a priest in a hulla skirt is worth it!) --you cold have the children sing a nice little song. The staff serve us lunch (you could do this with a lunch or desert if it's a short program after school. Then after lunch, names are drawn for volunteer of the month. Twelve names are drawn and you get to park in a special spot for the entire month that your name was drawn for. A HUGE it and much todo if the youth minster's wife name is picked!! HAHAHA! After that a small gift is given to everyone with desert and a final pray is said.

Obviously you can change much of it but the entire event is about hour and half with 30 min given to everyone eating and sharing.

Hope that helps!!

I am in charge of this year's volunteer dinner. I need help with the program. Can anyone give me suggestions on what they have done in the past at their volunteer dinners or lunches?
