The reason for outback, is that I had read on a previous post that they will cook lunch or dinner for your fundraiser. They bring the food to be cooked, the grills, and I believe, salad. You provide the extras and handle selling tickets, some of the serving, and, of course, the clean-up. I had posted the question asking how you contact them, or who, but I never got a response.
If anyone knows, please let me know.

I also mentioned Rita's Ices, because they served the ice's, donated some and ? if they even charged for serving it.

I also hope to get the local grocery store to contribute some of the salads, and or watermelon or corn.

I hope someone out there has some idea of what something like this would cost per person, and any further suggestions on how to run an event like this. Or how to set up our charges. I was thinking of a flat fee per person to include the main meal, dessert and a drink. Then to charge a very reasonable fee for popcorn, more ices, drinks and watermelon (it would be in the middle of June).

I'm thinking hotdogs, hamburgers and chips. No plasticware needed. Try a bigger party supply store that rents chairs out. They may have stage equipment. You can probably use your search engine on the internet. Hope everythings goes well.

I think it sounds like a great plan. My only question would be "Why Outback?" What will you serve and how?

Don't get me wrong - my family loves them (too much). In fact, my husband gets dinner "to go" there probably once a week. The food is great, but of course it's never piping hot when picked up. I'm picturing people at your event sitting on the ground, eating lukewarm food, and trying to cut steak with a plastic knife.

The event sounds wonderful, but I'd just imagined it more as hot dog or pizza kind of event. Can you tell us more about the food?

We are a small school, and have a very small hill behind the school by the plarground, and we were thinking of having a family event at the end of the year. I'm the PTO prez, and the idea is to have a family dinner, supplied by outback, we would suppliment it, also have Rita's ices (they served ices at our fall picnic for a very reasonable price) and we handle serving it. We would invite the families of current students, and those that are enrolling in the fall, on a Saturday, early evening, and get people in our community to play music, sing, drums, dance, etc, for about 15 min each for a total of 90-120 minutes. The families would be instructed to bring blankets. The kids could use the playground equipment, right there before starting the show.

We're thinking of charging a very reasonable fee for the food, ices, popcorn, and limiting it to 120-150 people.

Has anyone done this?
Is it hard to rent and set up a small stage and speakers?

We also don't want to lose money on this, and hope to be able to add a few hundred dollars to our PTO's funds, if possible, but to still give the families a sense of it being a "family Night"
