Hey, HappyMom, your school wouldn't happen to be Minisink Valley, would it? It just so happens I graduated from there in 1987. email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

SHC, what area are you from? If in the NY area,I would love the name and number of the guy who came and ran your game night. Thanks, Wendy, Otisville, NY PTO. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

All I can think of is people fussing about cold pizza. We have a Little Caesar's Pizza a couple of blocks from the school. Did anyone ask for RSVP's so you won't have too much or too little food? I am a little nervous and although I can't expect perfection, I'd like as close as I can get. Did you charge by the slice or have a combo deal (pop & pizza) $2? How much should I charge? All the parents think I charge way too low.

SHC - thanks for the awesome Family Night ideas!! Can't wait to pitch them to my board. Especially love the "butts & heads" game. I'm really looking forward to an event that is fun for fun's sake, with no fundraising in sight. Thanks again!! adamswrite

I have cut and pasted an e-mail that I sent to the "coaches" who led our groups on Game Night. I don't have the instructions on the first two games but I'm posting the instructions on the other games we played that the kids (K5-4th) seem to enjoy playing:

1) "Elephant, Monkey, Palm Tree"--

2) "Partner Tag"

3) "Transformer Tag" (also known as "butts" and "heads"!)
Set up square boundaries with orange cones. Demonstrate to students the following two body positions:
1) one hand on top of the head and
2)one hand on the behind.
Each person will have to decide which body position is "right" at the start of the activity. After a moment for players to determine their game identity, start the game (whistle). Players then immediately declare their identity by adopting one of the body positions. The action involves one team-the heads, for instance--trying to tag and transform all the butts (or tails). If a head tags a tail, a tail becomes a head and vice versa. Once transformed, the person continues to tag anyone of the opposing team. The game continues until one team successfully dominates the world!

4) "Moose is Loose"
Group forms a circle. Ask each participant to hold their hands next to their face like moose antlers to show them what a moose looks like. A moose is formed by one person raising both of their hands and the person on either side of them raising the hand that is closest to the person holding both hands up. One person becomes the moose and then points to another person without looking at that person. That person then becomes the moose and the 2 people on either side of them must put their hands up. Have the group practice a bit until everyone has had the opportunity to be the moose and then begin the competition. You are eliminated if you are designated the moose and you don't respond or if you are on either side of the moose and don't respond. The last 3 standing are the winners.

5) "clothes Pin Tag"
Each person has 3 clothes pins. The objective of the game is to get rid of all 3 clothespins by clipping them on others in your group.
Rules:
Clip only player's back
No clipping hair
5 seconds makes a legal clip. If it falls off, the player who put it there must pick it up.
Can't rub clipped body on anything to rub off pins
Can't grab someone's clothes to slow the person down.

Jump up and down and shout when you have gotten rid of your 3 pins. The first person to get rid of all three pins wins!

6) "Hula Hoop"
Have group get in a circle and hold hands. have them pass the hula hoop around the circle without letting go of hands. Have them go around a couple of times and then add a second hula hoop going the other direction. See who gets stuck with both hula hoops.

Hope this helps!
