Got to say I'm offended ladies. 2 of our 4 officers in our PTO are men. What about just an adult night out (bowling, dancing, dinner, etc)?

HI! We do a Mom's Night Out every spring. We play bingo and have in home sale vendors (Avon, Tupperware, Partylite, ect.) set up booths. Instead of charging the vendors we have them donate an item to use as a door prize. The whole night is free to the moms, unless they buy something from the vendors. We have even done babysitting in the past as well and had high school student council kids volunteer their time. SO far this has been pretty sucessful.

We also had a mom in town that put together a ladies movie night for all the moms in her child's grade. The did it the third Tuesday of the month. She actually made up flyers and had each kid take one home that said what movie they were seeing and what time. This had nothing to do with PTO as she was not an active part of that, but something she did just to unite the Moms in her kids grade. It was something that a whole group of Moms attended and really enjoyed!

Thanks for the ideas. We don't have any male members and we only have 4 regular parents for a school of about 470. We do have 5 female staff members that are on the board so I don't want to forget them. I just wanted to know what you guys did.
When I was in high school, there was a Mother's Night Out that was always extremely successful as far as keeping current moms excited and bringing in new blood to get them ready for next year. I believe it was sponsered by a local catering company and they had a fashion show and charged admission. They also used the time to speak about what the group had done that year as well as what they wanted to do in the future. No kids were allowed-with high school it's easy to leave them at home-and that allowed the mom's the ability to really listen and have a good time.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Some of the board members occasionally go out for drinks after a PTO meeting, but we also have a few men on our board and they have gone out for drinks as well, so technically it is not a "ladies night out".

Is this what you meant, or were you referring to only the female board members having a type of night out?
