Halloween Haunted House

We have a haunted hallway that at the end of the party the kids go through and trick or treat at the doors. Once they go through they cannot come back in, and if they don't want to go through we give them a bag of candy instead of trick or treating the haunted hallway. We have headstones(with no graves)but they all say funny things and nobody has had an issue(yet).

You know, if you look in older cemetaries they really didn't have tomb stones but rather statues and very tall markers. This would be something you could make with large peices of foam that comes out of pool tables, hockey tables etc. (contacting a sporting goods store NOW would be good as they are alway sputting together a game or two for display!)

A lllooonnngggg time ago our church did a maze in the basement with boxes etc and used lights but that was just for the little kids. Older kids they flashed them on and off. But we still have a HUGE party every year!

We have a Christian school so halloween anything is out. BUT, when we have our Family Fun Night Carnival we construct a maze in the school basement. Last year was our first attempt and it was a huge hit. We charged $.50 per ticket and the kids were excited because they had never been in the basement before so they assumed it would be "scary". The maze was constructed of refrigerator boxes (collect them well in advance so you have enough) and it went from one end of the basement, winding around to the other with stairs at each end. There were stand up and crawl through sections and white lights inside so students wouldnt be afraid. We had a dad that took on this project. Awesome

The only stipulation we have on our graveyard is no child-size graves. I put that stipulation on it because I started my haunted house the year that all those mothers were drowning their children in cars and crap like that was all over the news. Anyway, here are a couple of funny headstone ideas:

I have not run into this issue, but maybe a compromise could be reached where you make the headstones say funny things.

Halloween Haunted House was created by Katonah Elementary School
Our PTO hosts an annual Halloween Fair fundraiser on the Saturday before Halloween. Extensive parent involvement is needed to construct one of our popular attractions, The Haunted Hallway.

One item that has come up for question this year is whether or not it is approriate to have the Graveyard portion of this hallway. The Graveyard is made up of tombstones and coffins.

Some parents feel that the Graveyard is inappropriate and some feel that it's tradition.

Has anyone ever run into this issue?
