Teacher Appreciation

Here's an idea that our teachers love and we have done all four years I have been president. We get a parent volunteer for each class and they take the class into the gym. We find a movie that is G rated and they watch it. Meanwhile, the whole staff in the building gets 1 1/2 hours to themselves. Some staff stay in their room working, some go to the staff lounge and some staff even leave to run errands. It is something that doesn't cost anything, but that time to themselves during the work day is priceless for them.

We got a great idea from our new principal, who is a teacher, we are sending home a note with all the students to have them write (or their parents) a little note to A teacher, could be a present teacher, a past teacher, a math teacher, etc then we will have the kids return them to the school, and we are going to give the letters to the teachers all on MON of that week, then TUES we are making up little gift boxes with mixed candy in them, on Wed, we are having pizza catered to them, on THUR , they get another candy box and on Fri, we are getting them a cake from our favorite bakery here in town. We thought getting the kids involved was the key, thats why they are doing notes, and the kids will decorate the candy boxes that we give the teachers. Im so glad to have a great crew, I am the new PTO president for the new school year, and because our current crew only has 3 members, we are helping out since we have all 4 officers and a few other parents. We all came together and came up with the idea, and the pizza is being donated by an officer, who actually is a restaurant owner. She is donating lunch for the whole teacher crew. Hats off to great people!

We have each day of the week be a different theme and focus meals around that theme. If the 5th falls during that week we have a taco bar for the teachers.
