It's time to start luring people in any way you can! Door prizes, baby sitting services during meetings, multiple flyers regaring upcoming meetings. Maybe even a theme night at the meeting. (Pirate night, 50's night, etc.)
Postpone your election until May and start talking with other people to run. By the way, you already did the toughest job in your PTO as fund raising chair - take on the President role - it's the easiest job on the board. Once someone see's that they won't be alone, they usually start to rally.
Also, point out what will happen if they PTO disbands. The support that will be lost for various events, the voice that will be lost in the school community, the support that teachers and staff need. Be specific about what you've done and let people see that they need you. (Some people just don't come because "Someone else always does that" Well now we need them!)
I think you need to get the word out that you are looking for and welcome new faces on hte board.
We hold our elections in May, at our May PTO meeting... we also have in place options if no runs for President, all other positions stay open if no one runs in May and at the start of new School year the President can ask a parent to fill in an empty board position--
Maybe work on your kindergarten parents, get them involved-- same thing with the new school year, meet and welcome incoming kindergarten parents and get them involved.
Our Current Presedent Will End His Term This June Also The Vice As Well The Treasure Has Tried To Step Down But We Have Very Little Participation From Our Parents Only A Select Few Have Done Anything In The Past When Should A New Election Be Held And What If No One Steps Up Will We Need To Disperse All The $ In Our Funds By The Years Next Begining.. We Are A Pto In Mass..
In The Past We Have Had No Electiion Because No One Was Interesred After The Woman Who Was Pres For Many Terms Did Not Stay Within The School Only People That Wanted To Help Us Stay Afloat Any Ideas? Myself I Ran The Fundraisers We Normally Do And Still Was Able To Provide Field Trip Busses And Things For The School..
